When thinking of your swing, imagine how a roller coaster works, it climbs the first and biggest hill very slowly and almost stops at the top, think of that as your backswing, then once it starts down that big hill, it starts down with gradual, forceful momentum, that would be your downswing, and finally at the bottom where you feel like your stomach wants to fall out LOL is where you impact the ball.

Vinny Jacobs is the Director of Instruction. He has been teaching at Mather for last 20 years. He started his golfing career by learning to caddy at a very early age, always saying, “if a young person really wants to experience the entire game, they should try caddying, it is truly one of the best ways to learn.”
He turned pro in 1996 while playing on the California Golf Tour. He has attended several PGA forums and many clinics conducted by some of the best instructors in the game, such as Butch Harmon, Dave Pelz, Gary Wiren, Hank Haney and many others. Vinny is also a certified club fitter with Titleist, Ping, and many others. He has performed around 50 thousand individual lessons to date in all age categories and in 2005 and 2006 he led the city golf courses in all group lessons.
